Popular hill towns such as Dharamsala, McLeodganj, Palampur, Bir Billing, Dalhousie, Chamba, and Bharmour experienced a sudden shift in weather, replacing recent warmth with cold winds and misty conditions.
Rainfall Data: IMD Reports Significant Showers
According to the India Meteorological Department, the region received notable rainfall overnight:
- Dharamsala & McLeodganj: 25.5 mm
- Kangra: 18.4 mm
- Palampur: 10.2 mm
- Chamba: 4 mm
Intermittent rain showers continued into the morning, while dense fog covered higher altitudes, reducing visibility and intensifying the cold conditions.
Temperature Drops Sharply Across Hill Stations
The sudden weather change led to a steep decline in minimum temperatures:
- Dharamsala: 16.5°C
- McLeodganj: 9.8°C
- Palampur: 11.5°C
- Kangra: 15.3°C
- Chamba: 16.8°C
- Dalhousie: 8.6°C
- Bharmour: 13°C
Locals described the atmosphere as “early winter-like,” especially in higher elevations.
