Droupadi Murmu was accorded a warm and ceremonial welcome during a State Banquet hosted in her honour at the Himachal Pradesh Lok Bhavan in Shimla on Tuesday evening.

The prestigious event brought together key constitutional authorities, senior government officials, and prominent dignitaries from across the state, reflecting the importance of the President’s visit.


Warm Reception by Governor and Dignitaries

The President arrived at around 7 PM and was formally received by Kavinder Gupta and Lady Governor Bindu Gupta. Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia was also present to welcome her.

At the Aditya Room, the Governor and Lady Governor felicitated the President, where she spent time interacting warmly with members of the Governor’s family, adding a personal touch to the otherwise formal evening.


Top Leaders and Officials Attend the Banquet

The State Banquet at the Darbar Hall witnessed the presence of several high-profile leaders, including:

  • Kuldeep Singh Pathania
  • Jai Ram Thakur
  • Mukesh Agnihotri
  • Dhani Ram Shandil
  • Rohit Thakur

Judges from the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Member of Parliament Sikander Kumar, HPPSC Chairman Capt Rameshwar Singh, and ARTRAC Chief Lt Gen S S Dahiya were also in attendance.

Senior administrative officials, including Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta and DGP Ashok Tiwari, along with other distinguished guests and citizens, added to the significance of the occasion.


Atal Tunnel Visit Cancelled Amid Bad Weather

In a related update, the President’s scheduled visit to the iconic Atal Tunnel on April 29 has been cancelled due to inclement weather conditions.

Officials cited safety concerns as the primary reason for the change in schedule.
