The President is scheduled to visit the state capital from April 27 to May 2, during which she is also expected to tour several key locations across Himachal Pradesh. In preparation, around 100 police personnel have been deployed across strategic points in the city.
Senior officials, including Director General of Police Ashok Tewari, have issued clear directives emphasizing vigilance, discipline, and flawless execution of security protocols. These instructions were communicated during a high-level security briefing led by Deputy Inspector General Anjum Ara and Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh.
Officials stressed that there is no room for negligence or complacency during such a high-profile visit. Police personnel have been instructed to strictly follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), while also maintaining a courteous and people-friendly approach toward residents and visitors.
“The visit is not just about security, but also an opportunity to showcase the professionalism and preparedness of Himachal Pradesh Police at the national level,” senior officials noted during the briefing.
Special focus has also been placed on ensuring seamless coordination between field units and maintaining real-time communication across departments. Authorities have assured that traffic movement will be carefully managed to avoid inconvenience to the public. Dedicated corridors have been planned to ensure uninterrupted movement of emergency services such as ambulances and fire tenders.
DGP Tewari, in his message to the force, underlined the importance of integrity and alertness. He stated that policing during such visits demands the highest level of accountability and precision. Officers have been directed to remain proactive, mission-focused, and prepared for any contingency.
With national attention likely to be on Shimla during the President’s visit, the administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure both security and public convenience are maintained at the highest standards.
