Himachal Pradesh is gearing up for a fresh spell of changing weather, with snowfall, rainfall, and thunderstorms expected to hit the state from April 24 onwards. The shift in weather is being attributed to a new Western Disturbance that is likely to impact the Western Himalayan region starting April 23.

According to the Meteorological Department, a yellow weather warning has been issued for April 25 and 26. During this period, several districts may experience thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, potentially affecting daily life and travel plans.

Until April 23, the weather across the state is expected to remain dry and stable. However, conditions will begin to change from April 24, when light snowfall and rainfall are likely in higher altitude regions. By April 25, rainfall activity is expected to spread across most parts of the state. The wet spell is likely to continue in mid and high hill regions through April 26 and 27.

Interestingly, despite the incoming rain and snowfall, temperatures across Himachal Pradesh are expected to rise slightly. Both minimum and maximum temperatures may increase by 2°C to 3°C over the next few days, adding a mix of warmth and moisture to the atmosphere.

Over the past 24 hours, the state has largely experienced dry weather with clear skies and bright sunshine. Temperatures have remained above normal, with minimum temperatures ranging between 1°C and 21°C, while maximum temperatures varied from 15°C to 38°C.

Among key locations, Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 25.4°C, while Dharamshala saw 31°C and Manali 25.5°C. Warmer regions like Kangra, Mandi, and Sundernagar recorded temperatures above 33°C. Una emerged as the hottest location in the state with a high of 38°C, while Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti remained the coldest at 1.2°C.

Residents and tourists are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts, especially those planning travel to hilly areas, as sudden weather changes could impact road conditions and outdoor activities.
