In a strong push to improve rural connectivity, Himachal Pradesh Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Tuesday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to balanced development across all constituencies, with a clear focus on road infrastructure.

During his one-day visit to Theog in Shimla district, the minister conducted an on-ground review of multiple ongoing and proposed road projects. He inspected the under-construction Theog–Tiali–Dhamandari–Sainj road and also visited the dumping site of the Tiali–Nahol link road, signaling a hands-on approach to monitoring development work.

Addressing a public gathering in Rahaighat, Singh revealed that 16 new roads have been sanctioned under the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for the Theog Assembly constituency. The move is expected to significantly improve last-mile connectivity in the region.

Speaking at another public meeting in Tiali, the minister highlighted the urgent need to upgrade the Fagu–Chyog–Dhamandri–Sainj road, citing rising traffic and long-standing public demand. “The road is old and requires regular maintenance, but given the increasing congestion, a full upgrade is necessary. Construction work is already underway, and we are ensuring timely completion along with proper drainage systems,” he said.

In a major announcement, Singh confirmed that the Shakildhar–Nahol link road will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹7 crore, further strengthening connectivity in the area.

He also unveiled plans for a ₹200 crore upgrade of the Yashwant Nagar–Chhaila–Neripul road, calling it a “critical lifeline” for the region. The upgraded road is expected to ease transportation and provide better access to apple markets for residents of Sainj, Chhaila, Kotkhai, Jubbal, and Rohru—areas heavily dependent on horticulture.

Taking note of local concerns, the minister directed officials to investigate complaints regarding improper dumping of construction material along the Tiali–Nahol road. He instructed that strict action be taken if violations are found. “Dumping must be carried out only at designated sites. Authorities must ensure compliance with environmental norms,” he emphasized.

The visit underlines the state government’s renewed focus on infrastructure development as a key driver of economic growth and rural empowerment in Himachal Pradesh.
