Himachal Police on High Alert After Delhi Explosion; Citizens Urged to Remain Vigilant
Following the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, Himachal Pradesh Police have been placed on high alert, tightening security across the state. DGP Ashok Tiwari has directed district police chiefs to intensify surveillance in border and sensitive areas while urging citizens to remain alert and report suspicious activity without panic.
Security across Himachal Pradesh has been stepped up following Monday’s explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort Metro Station, where National Security Guard (NSG) commandos remain deployed at the blast site.
In response to the incident, the Himachal Pradesh Police have been placed on high alert, with the Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Tiwari issuing strict instructions to all district police chiefs (SPs) to enhance vigilance, particularly in border districts and other sensitive areas.
Statewide Surveillance Tightened
According to the DGP, police units have been instructed to closely monitor suspicious vehicles, unattended items, and unusual activities in their respective jurisdictions. Coordination with local intelligence units, administrative agencies, and security partners has also been intensified to ensure a proactive security posture.
DGP Tiwari said, “There is no cause for panic, but maintaining peace and security requires public cooperation. Timely information from citizens plays a crucial role in overall safety.”
Public Advisory Issued
The police have released a public advisory urging residents to stay alert, especially in crowded places such as markets, transport hubs, and tourist spots, while refraining from spreading rumors or unverified information on social media and messaging platforms.
Citizens have been asked to immediately report any suspicious objects, unattended bags, or vehicles to the nearest police station or the emergency helpline number 112.
The advisory also emphasizes full cooperation during security checks and public area patrols.
Enhanced Vigilance in Border and Sensitive Areas
The DGP confirmed that security and surveillance measures have been strengthened across all districts, with special focus on interstate borders and high-risk zones.
He added, “Himachal Pradesh Police have fortified monitoring systems and deployed additional personnel to ensure comprehensive safety coverage. Public awareness and timely reporting remain the strongest tools against potential threats.”
Context: Heightened Security Nationwide
The alert comes in the aftermath of the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, which killed at least eight people and injured 20 others — the first such major blast in the national capital since 2011.
The Union Home Ministry has directed all states and Union Territories to maintain heightened vigilance, particularly in the run-up to upcoming public events and tourist season across North India.
