Shimla, July 17:
2012-batch IPS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, Shalini Agnihotri, has been assigned a new responsibility by the Central Government. She has been deputed to Delhi, where she will serve as Deputy Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy for a period of four years. The state government formally relieved her from the post of SSP Kangra on Thursday. A notification to this effect was issued by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena.

Serving as Kangra’s SSP since March 2023, Shalini Agnihotri is known for her firm yet approachable style of policing. Notably, she holds the distinction of being the first woman SSP of Kangra. Prior to this, she also served as SP in prominent districts like Mandi and Kullu. In her nearly 13-year career, she has provided commendable service in all three major districts where she was posted. A native of Una district, Shalini began her IPS journey in her home state of Himachal Pradesh.

Although the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, had approved her appointment to the Central post on May 28, the state government has now officially relieved her, enabling her to take up her new assignment. As per the notification, Shalini Agnihotri will remain on central deputation for four years.

Following her departure, the state government has appointed Ashok Ratan, the current SP of Nurpur, with additional charge of Kangra district. A 2017-batch IPS officer, Ratan will handle the responsibilities of Kangra’s Superintendent of Police until further orders.
