Shimla, May 14 – A powerful message of women empowerment resonated during a special workshop held at the BJP state headquarters, Deep Kamal, Chakkar, on the occasion of Ahilyabai Holkar Jayanti. The event was organized by the BJP Mahila Morcha and saw the participation of Deepti Rawat, National General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha, as the chief guest.
The program was also graced by Dr. Rajeev Bindal, BJP State President; Trilok Kapoor, General Secretary and event coordinator; Bihari Lal Sharma, General Secretary; and Vandana Guleria, President of the State Mahila Morcha.
In her address, Deepti Rawat highlighted the inspiring legacy of Ahilyabai Holkar, who is revered across the country both as a queen and a divine figure. She was the wife of Khanderao Holkar, son of the renowned Maratha Subedar Malhar Rao Holkar. As the ruler of the Holkar dynasty, Ahilyabai made Maheshwar her capital and governed with vision and compassion.
“She wasn’t just a ruler—she was a builder of a prosperous state,” said Rawat. “Her efforts to boost the local GDP and promote the cotton industry were exceptional. The Maheshwari sari, which she helped popularize, remains a symbol of elegance and heritage even today.”
Rawat emphasized that the BJP, at both the national and state levels, is committed to promoting women’s empowerment by drawing inspiration from the life and achievements of Ahilyabai Holkar.
