Shimla, May 12: The 2569th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha was observed with reverence, devotion, and enthusiasm across Himachal Pradesh. In the state capital, a special program was organized at the Sambhota Tibetan School in Chotta Shimla. The event was jointly hosted by the Kinnaur-Lahaul-Spiti Buddhist Seva Sangh and the India-Tibet Friendship Society.

The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, attended the celebration as the chief guest.

On the occasion, followers of Buddhism brought Lord Buddha’s life and teachings to the stage through vibrant cultural performances that captivated the audience. A large number of devotees and residents participated in the celebration. According to Buddhist tradition, Buddha Jayanti is considered a sacred day marked by prayers for peace, harmony, and brotherhood in society. Devotees also reaffirm their commitment to overcoming hatred and discord within the community.

In his address, Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the enduring relevance of Lord Buddha’s teachings in today’s world. He highlighted Buddha’s message of truth, compassion, and non-violence, and encouraged everyone to follow these principles to build a more just and peaceful society. He further reiterated the government’s commitment to preserving the cultural identity and traditions of every community.
