Mock Drill: Sirens Sound in Shimla, DC Office and Sanjauli Parking Declared Impact Zones
Mock drill in Shimla
Shimla, May 7:
As part of a nationwide emergency preparedness exercise initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs, mock drills were conducted across 244 districts, including Shimla. During the drill, the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and Sanjauli Multilevel Parking were declared as affected zones.
At exactly 4:00 PM, sirens were sounded to simulate an emergency scenario. Civil Defence personnel and other response teams swiftly reached the designated locations and safely evacuated people from the area. The drill, which lasted for approximately half an hour, tested the district administration’s preparedness to deal with emergency situations and highlighted areas for improvement.
The exercise also aimed to raise public awareness about safety protocols during crises.
On this occasion, Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap stated that such drills are essential to evaluate administrative readiness and educate the public on how to respond during emergencies. He also announced that a citywide blackout would be observed from 7:20 PM to 7:30 PM to simulate wartime conditions.
