Shimla, April 19: In a bizarre twist to a house burglary in Shimla’s Jubbal area, a group of thieves stole a parked car after breaking into a locked house—only to abandon the vehicle midway when it ran out of fuel.

The incident took place in Kehral village, where homeowner Kishore Kumar had locked up his house and left for a family function in village Kot on the evening of April 16. When he returned on the morning of April 18, he found the main door broken and the car keys missing from his cupboard. To his shock, his Hyundai car (HP10B-9473), which was parked outside, was also gone.

Thieves’ Escape Plan Derails on Pujarli-Tikkar Link Road

Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Jubbal police launched an investigation. Soon, the stolen vehicle was traced—abandoned on a deserted stretch of the Pujarli-Tikkar link road in Rohru. Police officials believe the thieves had to ditch the car due to petrol exhaustion, thwarting their getaway.

The car has been seized and sent for forensic examination in hopes of retrieving fingerprints or other clues that could lead to the culprits.

Police Register Case, Hunt On for Burglars

Jubbal police have registered a case under Sections 303(2), 305, and 331(4) of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) against unidentified persons. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being reviewed to identify those involved.

“Initial leads suggest the vehicle was being driven toward Rohru when the thieves had to abandon it. We’re analyzing CCTV footage and are confident of arresting the suspects soon,” said the station in-charge.

A Wake-Up Call for Residents

This unusual incident serves as a reminder for residents to not leave valuable items or keys in easily accessible places while traveling. As police continue their investigation, locals have been urged to report any suspicious activity and install security systems where possible.
