Salute to the Protector of the Border: Himachal’s Braveheart Subedar Kuldeep Chand Sacrifices Life for the Nation
Subedar Kuldeep Chand of Hamirpur martyred in Akhnoor while foiling terrorist infiltration; three terrorists killed in counter-operation
Hamirpur, April 12: The entire nation bows in respect as Subedar Kuldeep Chand, a proud son of Kohlwin village in Nadaun subdivision of Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, laid down his life for the country in a fierce encounter with terrorists in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident took place on the Kerry border, where a group of terrorists attempted to infiltrate Indian territory. In the intense retaliatory operation launched by the Indian Army, three terrorists were neutralized. However, during the encounter, Subedar Kuldeep Chand was critically injured. Despite being rushed to the Army hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
Subedar Chand had recently returned to his post after a leave of two months. He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, and elderly parents. The news of his martyrdom cast a shadow of grief across his native village, where locals mourned the loss of a hero with teary eyes and heavy hearts.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep condolences, stating,
“Subedar Kuldeep Chand made the supreme sacrifice while defending the nation. His courage and valor will forever inspire generations. We stand with the family in this hour of grief.”
In a connected operation in Kishtwar district, the Indian Army achieved a major breakthrough by killing three Pakistan-backed terrorists, including Jaish-e-Mohammed’s top commander Saifullah, who carried a reward of ₹5 lakh. Saifullah had long been active in the Chenab Valley region, orchestrating terror activities across Kishtwar and Doda. Based on actionable intelligence, forces cordoned off the area and conducted a precision strike that led to the elimination of all three terrorists.
The Army confirmed that the operation was prolonged and intense, and tragically, Subedar Kuldeep Chand was martyred during the fierce exchange of fire.
According to defense officials, the remaining two terrorists were also trained and armed by Pakistan, and their elimination marks a significant blow to the terror network in Jammu and Kashmir’s sensitive Chenab Valley.
The nation salutes the unmatched bravery of Subedar Kuldeep Chand, whose sacrifice has not only safeguarded countless lives but has once again reminded every Indian of the resilience and dedication of our armed forces.
