Shimla: Youth who fled from de-addiction facility assaulted, FIR lodged

Shimla, March 10: The news is coming out that some youths admitted to de-addiction are being beaten up by the employees of a de-addiction centre located under Theog police station area of ​​Shimla district. In this context, a case has been registered by the police on the complaint of the victim and investigation has started.

The case’s statement said the family of 25-year-old Sikandar son of Pradeep Thakur, resident of Lower Koti village, Tehsil and sub-division Rohru on March 1, 2025 admitted him in a de-addiction centre of Matyana village to rid him of narcotics addiction.

According to the complaint of the victim in the police, On March 3, the victim and some of his accomplices had hatched a conspiracy to escape from the centre and fled there by dodging the employees. The employees of the de-addiction centre caught them there after they reached the forest near Kaljar village after escaping.

It is claimed the workers severely bashed them once they were apprehended, injuring them to their head, hands, feet and mouth. When the complainant was being taken back by the staff of centre, they threatened to kill them if they again tried to flee, the complainant said.

Sikandar narrated the whole incident to his family after which the matter reached the police. An FIR has been registered by the police on the information provided by Sikandar. The Theog police have lodged a case under sections 115(2) and 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code.

The investigation in this regard is underway and the employees of the de-addiction centre are being questioned, said the police. The police said the victims had undergone a medical examination, and further action would be taken subject to the report.
