Himachal: Robber bride who fled with jewelry 4 days after marriage, caught by police
Hamirpur, 09 February: Police has arrested the cunning bride who cheated a young man of 1.50 lakhs on the pretext of marriage in Bhoranj subdivision. Along with her, the person who arranged the marriage and the bride’s aunt have also been taken into police custody. It is worth noting that on 6 February, a case was registered on the complaint of cheating a young man of 1 lakh 50 thousand rupees in the name of marriage. Police had asked the woman to join the investigation, after which she was arrested on reaching the police station.
What was the matter?
On 6 February, a youth named Jitesh Sharma had lodged a complaint in Bhoranj police station that he had been cheated of 1.50 lakhs in the name of marriage. He told that Baldev Sharma resident Kharsal, Tehsil Sarkaghat, District Mandi had taken this amount in lieu of getting married.
Baldev Sharma had come to Bhoranj court to get married to a girl named Babita. But the girl did not have a birth certificate, due to which the lawyer got the marriage done through an affidavit. The fraudsters had assured the complainant and his family that they would soon provide the girl’s birth certificate and other documents. After this, Jitesh and his family got married in the village temple with full rituals.
Just a few days after the marriage, the bride started insisting on taking the jewellery from home and going to Yamunanagar. She said that her mother is admitted in the ICU and she has to go immediately. The young man Jitesh left her in Yamunanagar and returned home, but after this the bride stopped picking up the calls of her in-laws. When the family realized that they had been cheated, they lodged a complaint with the police. The police had called the woman to join the investigation. When she reached Bhoranj police station, she was arrested. Along with this, the police have also taken into custody Baldev Sharma, who got the marriage done, and the bride’s aunt.
On the other hand, SP Bhagat Singh has confirmed the case. He said that the three arrested accused will be produced in the court and further action will be taken. Police is also investigating other people associated with this gang.
