A Joyous Night Turns Into Mourning for Three Families

Shimla, January 1: What should have been a joyful celebration to ring in the New Year turned into heartbreak and grief for three families. Tragically, three young men lost their lives in a fatal road accident on the night of December 31st. The incident occurred around 11:30 pm near a petrol pump close to Matiyana on National Highway-5 (NH-5). The victims, who were traveling in a car (HP02AA-0169) from Shimla to Rampur, met with a fatal accident when their vehicle went out of control and plunged into a deep ditch, resulting in their instant deaths.

Accident Details and Immediate Response

According to police reports, the car’s driver lost control on the slippery road, leading the vehicle to veer off the highway and into a ravine. The force of the impact left the area filled with loud screams, and nearby residents rushed to the scene after hearing the noise. They immediately contacted local authorities, but by the time help arrived, all three young men had already passed away.

Identification of the Deceased and Family Shock

The victims, who hailed from Kinnaur, are still in the process of being fully identified. Preliminary investigations by the Theog police have confirmed their origin, and efforts to notify their families have begun. The families, who had been celebrating the New Year with joy, were left devastated by the sudden loss. It is reported that the young men had visited Shimla for some personal work and were returning to Rampur when the tragic accident occurred.

The Theog Police have registered a formal FIR and are conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. DSP Theog, Siddharth Sharma, confirmed the incident and assured that the bodies would be handed over to the families after the completion of the post-mortem procedures.
