Their achievements reflect the growing role of women in all sectors of society.

Empowering Women and Promoting Their Rights

In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized the state government’s commitment to the upliftment and welfare of women. Over the last two years, several welfare schemes have been launched, targeting the empowerment of women. The Chief Minister pointed out the increasing self-confidence among daughters in Himachal Pradesh, a clear indication of the evolving mindset in the state’s society.

He lauded Himachal Dastak for providing an effective platform to recognize and honor women who face significant challenges in their lives. Sukhu mentioned that he had attended the program the previous year as well, praising the initiative for its role in honoring the achievements of women who often go unnoticed.

A Special Focus on Women’s Rights in Tribal Areas

The Chief Minister specifically praised Ratan Manjari from Kinnaur for her longstanding fight for women’s rights, particularly in tribal areas where women have been deprived of legal rights. Sukhu emphasized that the state government is in favor of granting equal rights to women and is working to build consensus on this matter. “Depriving someone of their rights is unjust, and we are committed to changing the law after obtaining consensus,” he stated.

The Chief Minister also spoke about his government’s efforts to uplift marginalized sections of society, citing initiatives such as adopting orphan children as “Children of the State” and covering the educational expenses for the children of widows. Additionally, he highlighted the Dr. Y.S. Parmar Student Loan Scheme, which offers loans to meritorious students at just one percent interest.

Vision for a Greener and Self-Reliant Himachal Pradesh

Sukhu also shared his vision for the future of Himachal Pradesh, with an ambitious plan to make the state a leader in green energy by 2026. “This is not just a thought but a mission to safeguard the future of our generations,” he said.

He further emphasized the state’s focus on building infrastructure, citing the ongoing construction of five Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools and other educational projects. The government is also working towards making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant, a goal that requires the cooperation of all citizens.

The Celebration of Talent and Culture

The event also featured performances by Indian Idol fame Neha Dixit and renowned singer AC Bhardwaj, adding a cultural flair to the ceremony. The presence of key figures such as MLA Harish Janartha, Vivek Sharma, and other dignitaries underlined the importance of the event.
