Politics of Betrayal Erupts in Himachal Pradesh Congress Following HPCC Dissolution.

Ever since the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) was dissolved by All India National Congress National President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, a period of mutual debate has been going on among the leaders of Himachal Pradesh Congress. Recently a case has come to light in which All India Congress Committee (AICC) Himachal Pradesh in-charge Rajeev Shukla had formed a team of 16-member observers as top Congress leaders to reorganize the HPCC and resolve the mutual dispute of the state Congress leaders, which has been opposed by the Himachal Pradesh Congress leaders. The reason behind this is being told that Himachal Pradesh Congress in-charge Rajeev Shukla, without respecting the local Congress leaders of the state, is taking the opinion of top leaders in every matter for the reorganization of HPCC, where the advice of the ground level state leaders should be taken for the reorganization of the committee.

A senior leader of Himachal Pradesh Congress, on the condition of anonymity, has opposed this decision and said, “The appointment of observers in this manner on the state-related matter of HPCC reorganization is an attempt to humiliate the state leadership. This is the first time that the AICC is taking such a strong decision for a small state, whereas the direct opinion of the state leaders and CM Sukhu should have been taken here, but the top leadership is going to challenge the authority of the HPCC president by taking such a wrong decision”.Not only this, the MLAs of the state Congress as well as many party leaders have termed the decision of the top leadership to appoint observers as wrong and said that the appointment of leaders from other states who do not understand the politics of Himachal Pradesh properly as observers is a completely directionless decision.

Another senior leader expressed his opposition and said, “How can leaders from other states who do not know the ground reality of Himachal Pradesh reorganize the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) as observers?” Discussions have also started among the Congress leaders of the state that they will take good care of the observers appointed by the top leadership so that the external observers are attracted towards them and they are offered a big post in the committee.

HPCC Reorganization: A Necessary Step for Himachal Congress

HPCC was dissolved by All India National Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge in the beginning of November, after which mutual debate started among the state Congress leaders regarding the posts. The state Congress party leaders described the HPCC reorganization as a correct and positive decision of the top leadership as the young leaders had high hopes from the HPCC reorganization. But with time, a situation of fierce dispute started between the leaders supporting Himachal Pradesh Congress President Pratibha Singh and the state Congress party leaders.

The decisions being taken by the top leadership are not being accepted by Pratibha Singh’s supporters, and the All India Congress Committee has been accused of rejecting their talent by the local youth leaders. The controversy over HPCC reorganization has further increased the debate between the MLAs and senior leaders of Himachal Pradesh Congress. Now it will be interesting to see who is appointed in the HPCC reorganization.

The full story of the mutual dispute among Himachal Pradesh Congress leaders

The story of the dispute among the leaders of Himachal Pradesh Congress is not limited to this political dispute that has been going on for a long time among the leaders, due to which even during the recently concluded assembly elections, cases of infighting among the state Congress leaders came to the fore and even after the electoral victory, the competition for the post in the Congress party has not ended. The central leadership has proved unsuccessful from the beginning in trusting the ability of the state Congress leaders, due to which many senior leaders believe that the AICC will be held responsible for the discord in Himachal Pradesh Congress.

The visit of AICC Secretary Vidit Chaudhary and Chetan Chauhan is proposed on 25th and 26th November in which along with the AICC Secretary, Pratibha Singh, former state Congress state presidents, senior leaders as well as heads of HPCC organizations have been invited to the meeting.

It is being speculated that efforts will be made to resolve the ongoing differences among the state Congress leaders in the meeting with the AICC Secretary, but the truth about how many Congress leaders listen to the AICC Secretary will be revealed in the coming times.

Unity in the upcoming elections is going to be the biggest challenge due to the disputes between the state Congress leaders that started regarding the reorganization of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee. The displeasure of the ground level Congress leaders of the state over the appointment of observers by the AICC will also create a big obstacle in the reorganization of HPCC, because there is not only a fight of local leaders or young leaders in the committee, but the hunger for posts among the senior leaders of the state is also being cited as the main reason for the dispute.

This type of fight has put the Congress leaders of the state on the back foot every time. On the other hand, the opposition of the Bharatiya Janata Party to every decision of the state government does not decrease and if the Congress fails to save its own leaders, then it will not take much time for the government to fall once again.
