Massive fire in Rohru, blast of cylinders kept in kitchen reduced many houses to ashes…cow burnt alive
A massive fire has taken place in Seri village of Summerkot area of Rohru subdivision of Shimla district. Four houses were reduced to ashes in this incident. A house in the village caught fire at around 4 am on Monday. The sky-touching flames burnt the adjacent houses to ashes in no time. The fire intensified further due to the blast of cylinders kept in the kitchen of the houses. Property worth lakhs was destroyed in this fire incident.
Shimla, November 11: A massive fire has taken place in Seri village of Summerkot area of Rohru subdivision of Shimla district. Four houses were reduced to ashes in this incident. A house in the village caught fire at around 4 am on Monday. The sky-touching flames burnt the adjacent houses to ashes in no time. The fire intensified further due to the blast of cylinders kept in the kitchen of the houses. Property worth lakhs was destroyed in this fire incident.
Thankfully, there was no loss of life. There was an uproar in the entire village on seeing the sky-touching flames rising from the wooden houses. People present in the houses ran away and saved their lives. A wedding was being organised in a house next to the houses that were engulfed in the fire. The fire also engulfed the cattle sheds.
A cow died after being burnt alive in this incident. After struggling for hours, the fire brigade personnel were able to control the fire. It took about three and a half hours for four fire engines to extinguish the fire. Two fire engines from Rohru and one each from Chirgaon and Jubbal controlled the fire and saved the entire village from burning to ashes. Many families are now living under the open sky after losing everything in the fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be a short circuit.
The affected include Kailash son of Shiv Saran, Mohan Lal son of Sohan Lal and two others.
Rohru DSP Ravindra Negi said that four houses have been completely burnt to ashes in this fire incident. However, there has been no loss of life. A cow tied in the cattle shed also died after being burnt alive. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
