Shimla, August 20: BJP state president Dr. Rajeev Bindal has accused the Congress-led government of Himachal Pradesh of planning to hand over 115 acres of land of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University Palampur to private companies for real estate ventures. Dr Bindal claimed that the Congress government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was taking such decisions which could endanger the future of educational and agriculture institutions of the state.
Dr Bindal highlighted that this is not the first time that the Congress government has targeted premier institutions of Himachal Pradesh. Dr Bindal said, “The Congress government started by closing down the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission, an essential body that provided employment to thousands of youth. After this, they closed down 1,100 institutions across the state, including 800 schools. Now, they are endangering the land of Sarwan Kumar Agricultural University by considering handing it over to private companies.”
The BJP leader expressed deep concern over the government’s alleged plans to convert the university land, which has been instrumental in preparing agricultural experts for the country, into a site for real estate development. “This decision is not in the best interest of Himachal Pradesh. The BJP will strongly oppose any such move both on the streets and in the Assembly,” he said.
Dr. Bindal slammed the Congress government for allegedly planning to privatise the Atal Adarsh Vidyalaya buildings, which were built on government land with government funds. “This is a mockery of the interests of Himachal Pradesh and is completely reprehensible,” he said.
The BJP has vowed to oppose any attempt by the Congress government to privatise public properties, especially those used for important educational and agricultural purposes. Dr. Bindal asserted that the party will continue to fight against decisions which according to them are detrimental to the future and well-being of the state.
