Shimla, 01 August: Heavy rains have caused devastation in Himachal Pradesh in the last 24 hours. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu held an emergency meeting in the Secretariat regarding the devastation caused by heavy rains. In the meeting, along with taking the report of damage from all the districts, the Deputy Commissioners of all the concerned districts have been instructed to expedite the rescue. According to the information so far, 50 people are missing in Shimla, Kullu and Mandi due to cloudburst incidents, while the bodies of three people have been recovered and 3 people have been rescued safely.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that heavy rains have caused damage in three districts. 36 people are missing in Jhakhri Samej Khad of Rampur, out of which the bodies of two people have been recovered while two people have been rescued safely. Similarly, 9 people are missing in Mandi Padhar, one body has been recovered and one person has been rescued in an injured condition. The dam of the power project in Malana, Kullu has also suffered heavy damage.

The Chief Minister and the Revenue Minister themselves are leaving for the spot. The local administration along with NDRF, SDRF, ITBP are engaged in relief and rescue work at the spot and instructions have been given to speed up the rescue operation. The Chief Minister said that the Army has also been asked to remain on alert. Central Ministers Amit Shah and JP Nadda were spoken to over the phone and all possible help has been assured.
