Kangra, July 31: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a major operation in five districts of Himachal Pradesh that has drawn a lot of attention. The ED’s extensive raids include private residences and properties linked to Congress leaders, including prominent hospitals.
In Kangra and Una districts, the ED has carried out high-profile raids at the houses of Congress MLA from Nagrota Bagwan R.S. Bali and Congress candidate from Dehra and state Congress treasurer Dr. Rajesh Sharma. A large contingent of around 200 ED officials, who arrived in 40 vehicles, has been deployed for these operations.
The scope of the raids extends beyond private residences. In Kangra district, R.S. Bali’s Fortis Hospital and Dr. Rajesh Sharma’s Balaji Trust Hospital are also being investigated. Additional private hospitals in Kangra are also being probed. Parallel operations are reported to be carried out in Shimla, Mandi and Kullu districts, expanding the scope of the investigation.
In Una district, the ED has targeted three locations of a private hospital, focusing on possible irregularities in the Ayushman Bharat and Him Care Yojana. Though official confirmation is yet to come, these investigations indicate widespread concern about financial and operational anomalies in healthcare schemes.
Notably, Shri Banke Bihari Private Hospital in Una has been a focal point, where ED teams are examining hospital records. The investigation has also been extended to Basdehra in Mehatpur and Nangal in Punjab. Tight security arrangements have been made in the concerned areas by deploying CRPF personnel to maintain order during the raids.
