Mandi District Administration’s ‘DEI’ initiative gets prestigious Golden Scotch Award
Through this initiative, there has been a significant improvement in the status of women in the society and they have also been made aware of their rights and opportunities.
Mandi, July 20: To make the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign of the Central Government more meaningful, the Mandi District Administration has started a campaign at its own level called ‘DEI’ i.e. Daughter Empowerment Initiative. The objective of this campaign is to improve the condition of girls and women in Mandi district, to provide them opportunities for education, health and self-reliance. Under this campaign started in Mandi district from June 2023, excellent work was done across the district for which the district administration has been awarded the prestigious Golden Scotch Award.
District Program Officer Ajay Badrel informed that under this campaign of the district administration, various programs and schemes were conducted in the year 2023, which include promotion of education of girls, skill development, availability of health services and self-employment opportunities. This effort of Mandi District Administration not only received widespread support at the local level, but it has also been appreciated at the national level.
Through this initiative, there has been a significant improvement in the status of women in the society and they have also been made aware of their rights and opportunities. Under this initiative, many special works were done in Mandi district, especially mentorship program, Ek Boota Beti Ke Naam, exposure visit of adolescent girls, awarding women doing excellent work.
Ajay Badrel said that now after the successful organization of DEI Part One, DEI Part Two campaign will be started in the district this year in which menstrual health will also be linked with career counseling and women & adolescent girls of the district will be made aware. Many people benefited from this program and today they are thanking the help of the district administration to fulfill their dreams. This program is being run under the government’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, whose meaningful results are being seen.
It is noteworthy that the Scotch Award is given by the independent organization Scotch Foundation. This award is given in various categories to individuals, institutions and establishments who make innovative efforts to make India a better nation.
