Himachal Weather: Hailstorm in Shimla, drop in temperature, weather will remain bad till this day

Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 31: There was heavy rain, hailstorm and snowfall in high altitude areas in many parts of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. Yellow alert has been issued today by the Meteorological Department. In Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, the sky was cloudy since morning and suddenly in the afternoon the weather changed and there was heavy hailstorm. Apart from this, snowflakes have also fallen in high altitude areas. Due to which the temperature has dropped considerably and the cold has also increased. The weather will remain clear in Himachal Pradesh for the next two days, while the weather will remain bad again from April 3 to April 6.

Meteorological Department Director Surender Paul said that today a yellow alert has been issued regarding rain and storm along with hailstorm in many parts of Himachal Pradesh, while there has also been light snowfall in the upper parts. He said that the weather will remain clear in the state for 2 days, but from April 3, western disturbance is becoming active in the state again due to which the weather will remain bad again till April 6. During this time too, there is a possibility of rain and hailstorm with strong winds in the lower parts, while there may be snowfall in the higher areas. He said that due to rain in the state and snowfall in high altitude areas, the temperature is also falling significantly.

Due to snowfall in Lahaul Spiti for the last two days, life has again become disrupted. Due to snowfall in Lahaul Spiti, 118 roads were closed for traffic, while in other districts also roads were blocked due to rain. Apart from this, 662 electricity transformers got stalled in the entire state due to heavy rain and storm. Due to which many areas are immersed in darkness.
