Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Bilaspur, March 27: The court of Bilaspur District and Sessions Judge Kanwar Chirag Bhanu Singh of Himachal Pradesh has sentenced a father convicted of raping a minor to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment. Besides, orders have been given to pay a fine of Rs 50 thousand and a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the victim. Orders have also been given to pay the fine amount to the victim.

District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Bhatia said that the 13-year-old victim had complained to the police station on August 15, 2020 that her father Salim Hussain, who worked in Bilaspur, left the house at 10 am in the morning after fighting with her mother.

The police conducted medical test of the victim and the accused. After investigation the case was presented in the court. The prosecution presented 26 witnesses. The accused did not present any witness in his favor. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court has ordered the culprit to be sentenced to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment under section 9 of POCSO and to pay fine.
