Professor of Political Science and Political Analyst of Himachal Pradesh University, Prof. Ramesh K. Chauhan believes that this could create a situation of political instability in the state. On February 29, the Sukhu government will need a majority of Congress MLAs to pass the finance bill and budget.
For this, minimum 35 MLAs will be required. After cross voting in the election of Rajya Sabha member, opposition party BJP can also bring a no-confidence motion against the government in the House. In such a situation, the Congress government may have to prove majority in the House. The Finance Bill will be passed only after the majority is proved. Not only this, the Congress government of the state may face difficulties in the Lok Sabha elections due to cross voting and displeasure of the MLAs.
Pro. Chauhan believes that this situation has arisen due to the resentment that started from the time of formation of the state government’s cabinet. Controlling these current situations and creating coordination between the party and the government will be no less than a challenge in the coming days.
