92 Horticulture Students Stranded in Thunag Safely Reunited with Families
Mandi, July 4:
In a significant relief operation, 92 students from the College of Horticulture and Forestry, who were stranded in the disaster-hit Thunag area of Mandi district, have been safely evacuated and reunited with their families. The rescue was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan, following directives from the state government.
As news of the students’ safe return spread, anxious parents and guardians breathed a sigh of relief and expressed gratitude to the district administration for its timely and efficient response.
DC Devgan stated that multiple families had been contacting authorities over the past few days, seeking updates on their children’s safety. Recognizing the urgency, the administration swiftly mobilized relief and rescue operations. Through coordinated efforts involving local officials and disaster management teams, all 92 students were safely escorted out and handed over to their guardians.
Given the disrupted road access due to flooding and landslides, the students were first brought on foot from the college campus to Bagsyad. From there, three HRTC buses transported them to Chaulchowk, Baggi, and Sundernagar, where they were received by their parents.
The district administration arranged refreshments and drinking water en route. Expressing gratitude, DC Devgan thanked administrative officials, volunteers, and local residents who contributed to the success of this logistically challenging mission. He affirmed that efforts are ongoing to ensure relief reaches every individual affected by the calamity.
Among the students safely returned were Kashish Chauhan, Nitika Sharma, Aditya Singh, Priyanka, Riddhi, Riya, Harsh, Kritika, Anjali, Himani, Sahil, Dipesh, Priya Rana, Ritika Thakur, Neetika, Shalini, Mehak Sharma, Varsha, Ayush, Uday, Shivank, Akshit, Aditya, Shivay, Aryan, Prateek, Saransh, Tanya, Lalit, Jyoti, Puneet, Pratyush, Jasmin, and others.
