Himachal News: Six Quintals Gold And 234 Quintals Silver In Himachal Pradesh Temples

Shimla – Now the Himachal Pradesh government is going to make coins from the gold and silver collected for centuries in all the temples of Himachal Pradesh. About six quintals of gold and two hundred and thirty-four quintals of silver have been stored in all the temples of Himachal Pradesh for centuries. Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to sell approximately six gold and two hundred and thirty-four quintals of silver coins collected from all the temples of Himachal Pradesh to the devotees. The entire money coming from gold and silver coins will remain with the temple trusts. The temple trusts will also have the money received from gold and silver coins, bonds and all other types of options. All temple trusts of Himachal Pradesh will have to obtain approval from the Government of Himachal Pradesh before investing in bonds and all other options.

The money received from gold and silver coins can be used to provide better facilities to the devotees coming to visit all the temple trusts. Along with this, a notification has been issued on Tuesday by the Himachal Pradesh Government amending the rule made in the year 1986 for the entire amount received from coins. Due to the deteriorating economy of Himachal Pradesh, the Government of Himachal Pradesh has taken this important decision to bring the economy back on track by making proper use of the gold and silver accumulated in temple trusts for centuries.
While issuing the notification of Himachal Pradesh Public Religious Institution and Endowment Amendment Rules on Tuesday, Himachal Pradesh Government has made a provision to amend the rules of the year 1986. Besides, the Himachal Pradesh Government has also taken an important decision to withdraw the rules made in the year 1986. Deputy Commissioners or other District Officers are appointed as Trust Heads in all the temples acquired by Himachal Pradesh Government, due to which all the Temple Trust Heads, Deputy Commissioners and District Officers are required to notify the proposals related to the Temple Trust to the Himachal Pradesh Government. The Himachal Pradesh government has asked all the temple trusts to provide details of their income for the last ten years.
