The lease for the Shanan Power Project was for 99 years. That land was with the Punjab Government of Himachal Pradesh.

The lease is about to expire in 2024. The Honorable Chief Minister and the Government have made this clear in the past.

This matter has been raised for a long time that now when this time of 2024 will end, the Himachal government should have that right and regarding this, the government and the Honourable Chief Minister have talked on every platform that this was the time. It is coming to an end and after that we have the right to it.

The Honourable Chief Minister has also expressed his views regarding the same to the Government of India at different places. Recently he had gone to Amritsar and also participated in the meeting of the North Zone Council.

As far as the rights of our states are concerned, there has been a very good discussion on water, everything and there is also an issue in it that if the Chief Minister of Punjab writes, but it has to be settled through talks on merit and legally.

When will the validity of the lease expire and after that its legal rights should be with Himachal Pradesh and the government and we are committed to fight for it.
