Kangra News : Flood gates of both Pong Dam and Govind Sagar dams were opened due to heavy rains
Kangra News : Due to heavy rains in Kangra district, the water level of Pong dam is continuously increasing. Due to this, the flood gates of the dam have been opened from eight o’clock this morning.
Kangra Deputy Commissioner Nipun Jindal said that water will be released continuously from Pong Jam today. Twenty five thousand cusecs of water will be released from this dam till ten in the morning, while forty thousand cusecs after ten o’clock, fifty thousand cusecs of water will be released from Pong Dam from twelve o’clock in the afternoon.
He has appealed to the people of the panchayats adjacent to the downstream area of Pong dam not to go near the river. The Deputy Commissioner said that if there is any person or cattle near the downstream area of Pong, then immediately take them to a safe place and alert the people. Appealing to stay, called for cooperation from the administration.
The Deputy Commissioner said that people should contact the administration directly to deal with any kind of disaster situation or disaster. He has also appealed to the people not to pay attention to any kind of rumor.
And said that in case of any disaster, people can immediately contact the local Panchayat Principal Secretary or Patwari. The water level of Pong Dam has reached about one thousand three hundred eighty-two feet today.
The Pong Dam has the capacity to store water up to one thousand four hundred and ten feet. But as soon as the water reaches one thousand three hundred and ninety feet, water is released from the dam.
