Fishing will be banned in the major reservoirs and ponds of Himachal Pradesh for the next two months.

Fishing will be banned for the next two months in five major reservoirs of the state, including Govind Sagar Lake, Pong Dam, Chamera, Kol Dam and Ranjit Sagar, along with tributaries and ponds.

Director Satpal Mehta told in Bilaspur that due to the fish breeding process, this ban will remain in force from today till the next 15th August. He said that if any violation is found during the ban, he will be punished with imprisonment of three years and a fine of five thousand rupees as per the rules.

Satpal Mehta said that to make this period effective, elaborate arrangements have been made by the department, under which inspection teams have been formed to prevent poaching.

In this time limit of ban, the department has also appealed for the cooperation of the fishermen and the people. At this time, the fish which are in season, they breed and the common people are all ordinary citizens in Himachal Pradesh, so this ban will remain in place. And they will not be able to hunt any type of fish.

While talking to Diary Times, Mr. Satpal Mehta said – to the general public and especially to the fishermen community that they should cooperate with the department and breeding which is fish breeding is also breeding in a natural way. So for this cooperation from common citizens is required.
