Proposal To Increse Ag EOF Consent In Japan ?
On Friday, a panel of the justice ministry submitted a proposal to increase the age of consent from 13 years to 16 years in the country.
Japan has the lowest age of consent among the G7 nations in the world. The age of consent in different countries is as follows,
- Japan – 13 years
- Germany – 14 years
- France – 15 years
- The UK – 16 years
- The US – 16 years.
The age of consent for deciding was 13 years in the year 1907 in Japan. Till today no change has been made. But due to increasing outrage over multiple rapes, the sex crime legislation has proposed to increase the age of consent.
According to the proposal sexual intercourse with anyone under 16 years will be considered statutory rape. As per the age, the punishment can be increased.
