A person resident of Gagret was cheated of about Rs 2.72 crore in the name of building a residential house in Mohali, Punjab. The accused committed this crime by posing as false representatives of a construction company. On the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case against four people of the same family and started investigation. The accused have been identified as Gaurav Nair, his wife Ida Nair, Gaurav’s father Rajesh Nair and his wife Kavita Nair, residents of Sector-67 Jalvayu Vihar Homeland Mall Mohali Punjab.

According to the information, the complainant, Ajay Kumar, resident of Gagret Tehsil Ghanari District Una, informed the police in his complaint that he has four plots in Mohali, Punjab. He said that he wanted to build a residential house in the vacant plot. The complainant told the police that the accused Gaurav contacted him and said that he had a construction company and they wanted to build a residential house in his vacant plot. For this the accused said that about Rs 1.88 crore would be spent. Complainant Ajay said that he agreed to the offer of the accused.

After which he reached a settlement with the accused in a factory located in Jeetpur Behari of Una district. During this time, he trusted the accused and asked them to complete the work as per the agreement with him. The complainant said that accused Gaurav and his wife Ida came to his factory again on November 9, 2019 and brought two-sided contracts with them. Accused Gaurav described himself as a partner of the construction company.

During this, there was an agreement between them that the entire construction work would have to be completed within 120 days. Both sides also agreed on this. It was also decided that the construction company would send its bills for payment every 15 days. The complainant said that a huge amount of about Rs 2.72 crore was taken from the accused in the name of construction of a residential house. Which he paid through the bank. He said that despite taking such a huge amount, the accused did not prepare his residential house.

The complainant told the police that when he behaved strictly and asked the accused the reason for this, it came to light that the accused Gaurav was not a partner of the mentioned construction company. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the accused’s father and mother were partners in a construction company. The complainant said that all the accused have committed this fraud in collusion. DSP Amb Vasudha Sood said that the investigation of the case is going on. The investigation will be taken forward by interrogating the accused soon.
