Kyiv, Aug 20: A fuel and lubricants storage facility in Ukraine’s western Ternopil region caught fire on Tuesday morning after a Russian attack, although there were no casualties according to preliminary information, regional authorities said.

According to the Ternopil regional military administration, the projectile fired by the Russian military hit the storage depot in the city of Ternopil at around 3 a.m. local time, Xinhua news agency reported, citing Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

More than 90 rescuers and more than 20 pieces of equipment, including two fire engines, worked at the site to extinguish the fire. Local authorities urged people to stay inside their homes and keep windows closed.

The Ukrainian capital also came under drone and cruise missile attacks overnight, with no casualties, the Kyiv City Military Administration said, adding that all aerial targets on the outskirts of the city were intercepted.

The Ukrainian air force said Russia fired 26 Shahed combat drones, two Iskander M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, one Iskander-K cruise missile and several Kh-59 guided missiles at Ukraine in the overnight attack.

Ukrainian air defences shot down 25 drones, one cruise missile and two guided missiles in nine regions, according to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
