A building comprising 12 flats and 2 penthouses on the top floor collapsed threatening the lives of many people yesterday. The report says around 30-35 families were living in the building. Out of which 16 got rescued and are still doubting whether many more are yet to be rescued.

Samajwadi Party spokesperson Abbas Haider’s mother, Begum Haider, and his Wife Uzma Haider both perished in the event.

Officials reported that two or three people were still entangled in the wreckage of the structure.

When queried about the incident’s cause, several still-unresolved reasons were given. When officials reached out to the general public, they learned that the 12-flat, four-storeyed Alaya apartments on Wazir Hasanganj Road in Lucknow contained two unlawful penthouses on the top floor. The construction map does not depict the same.

Rescue efforts are still being conducted to guarantee that everyone has been found and is safe. The Indian Army is on the scene, as well as the NDRF and fire department.

The building’s owners are Nawazish Shahid and Mohammed Tariq. Along with the owners, Alaya flats’ builder Fahad Yazdani has been taken into custody and sent to the police station.

According to a report from Meerut, Nawazish has been held by police for interrogation about the collapse of the 4-storeyed Alaya Apartment.

Officials from the Lucknow Development Authority were told to file a case against them concerning the fall.

According to a government spokesperson, Divisional Commissioner (Ms.) Roshan Jacob also asked that authorities monitor other Yazdani building zones. It has been said that the construction will be torn down if it turns out to be illegal.

The UP government has established a three-member committee to look into the building collapse. According to a government official, the team consists of the chief engineer of the Public Works Department, Piyush Mordia, the Joint Commissioner of Police for Lucknow, and Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Roshan Jacob.

According to the spokesman, this committee will pinpoint the perpetrators of the accident and deliver its report within a week.

DGP DS Chauhan added that “it appears to be a case of natural disaster” as another contributing element.

The earthquake, which had a 5.8 magnitude on Tuesday and caused vibrations to be felt in Lucknow and other parts of north India, has also been blamed for the building fall.

An update on the transport of Nawazish to Lucknow for questioning has come from Meerut.

All we know is that he is said to have sold the five-storeyed Alaya Apartment that fell in Lucknow, according to Mr Sajwan.

The persons who were saved had exterior injuries and are in a state of shock, according to a doctor caring for the patients admitted to the civil hospital. There are no obvious serious injuries in either the CT scan or the X-rays that have been taken. There is a group of experts here, he remarked.

According to a government spokesperson, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is keeping an eye on the rescue efforts. Brijesh Pathak, the district’s deputy chief minister, claims that all hospitals are on alert. The 4-storeyed building has 12 apartments, nine of which were occupied, he claimed.

“As of right now, saving and providing proper medical care for all victims is our priority”, Mr Pathak said, adding that anybody held accountable for the event will face severe penalties.

How the building collapsed will be revealed once the investigation is complete, but it is immediately obvious that very substandard materials were used in its construction. This might be a contributing factor in the collapse, Says the Director General of Police.
