The retreat ceremony was held, on 29th January, three days after Republic Day. The Retreat Ceremony marks the closing of the Republic Day celebration. A wide range of programs was held in the ceremony. The ceremony was held in Kartavya Path, officially known as Rajpath, at the capital of the county New Delhi. Traffic arrangements were done by the Delhi Police. The roads were closed from 2 pm to 9:30 pm and the ceremony began at 4 pm. The dress rehearsal was held on the morning of the Retreat Ceremony. 

TRADITION

  • The traditional, ceremony is always held by the defense minister, Rajnath Singh.
  • All three military wings, the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force participate in the ceremony. 
  • Bands of all the military wings perform in the ceremony. 
  • National Anthem is played at the retreat ceremony.

RETREAT CEREMONY

The ceremony was honored by the presence of President, Droupadi Murmu. The ceremony was all attended by, the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi. 

The ceremony started with the Army band display followed by the band display of the Navy and the Air Force. Various patriotic songs were played by the bands like, “Vande Matarm”, Ye Mere Watan Ke Logo” and many more.

The specialty of this beating retreat ceremony is the grand display of drones held first time in the ceremony. More than 3,500 domestic drones illuminated the night sky of Raisina Hills, New Delhi. Various formations are displayed by the drones.

The people had to buy tickets to attend the drone show. The other way to see the drone show was on various social media platforms of the Doordarshan Channel.
