The largest urban cleanliness survey in the entire world –

India’s cleanliness survey is the largest urban cleanliness survey in the entire world. To maintain cleanliness in the cities of India, the cleanliness survey campaign was started in the year 2016 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The theme of the cleanliness survey in the year 2023 was kept as ‘Waste to Wealth’.

Under the eighth year of the cleanliness survey, more than 4500 cities were included in the cleanliness survey list in 2023.

From July 1, three thousand employees were assigned the task of evaluating cleanliness in different cities.

All ‘4500+ cities’ were assessed by the ‘30000 staff‘ on ‘46 parameters‘ of cleanliness. In the complete cleanliness survey, a target was also set to take feedback from more than ten crore citizens of India.

Know all the 46 parameters of ranking for conducting urban cleanliness survey –

In the cleanliness survey, ‘46 parameters‘ are used to decide the cleanliness survey ranking of clean and dirt-free cities. These parameters include everything from ‘door-to-door garbage collection‘ to complete management of ‘plastic waste‘. In the cleanliness survey parameters of the year 2023, major priority was given to ‘Safaimitra Suraksha’ with full emphasis on converting ‘manholes’ into ‘machine holes’. Due to which, by doubling the marks in the cleanliness survey in the year 2023, a ‘cleanliness survey of 9000 marks’ was conducted.

A new parameter of ‘Waste to Wonder Park’ was also included in the cleanliness survey of the year 2023. An additional weightage of 2% has also been provided in the numbers to all the cities which fulfilled all the 46 parameters of the cleanliness survey.

An additional weightage of 40% was given to all the cities on how much waste generated from the cities is being used and with the help of technology. Apart from this, ‘ red spot (spitting in commercial/residential areas) ‘ in cities was also included as a new parameter.
