Before the annual board examinations starting from Friday across the state, a class 12 student committed suicide by hanging herself in Chauntara in Mandi district. The student of non-medical subject had her first English paper on Friday.

In the preliminary investigation of the police, the reason for suicide is considered to be mental stress. On Thursday afternoon, the body of a student was found hanging in a room of the house in Bhagehad village of Chauntara. Due to this the ground slipped beneath the feet of the family members.

Father Suresh Kumar, posted in the education department as a senior assistant in a government school in Joginder Nagar, tearfully told that his only daughter had secured 92 percent marks in class 11 and had also obtained a scholarship from the education department.

His beloved daughter, who was smart in studies, had dreamed of becoming a scientist after completing her studies in non-medical stream in class 12th. He told that his daughter was in depression due to studies and some other family issues. He was also undergoing treatment.

Police have not found any suicide note in this incident. The actual cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report. The police have kept the body in the mortuary of the local hospital. After the post-mortem on Friday, it will be handed over to the family for the last rites. On the other hand, DSP Padhar Dinesh Kumar said that the investigation is being done keeping in mind all the facts and aspects of the case.
