Hariyali festival has started in many areas of Sirmaur district with the Sankranti of Sawan month, which is also known as Hariyarati. During this festival, different types of traditional Pahari dishes are made, which are served to the daughters-in-law and other relatives who come to the house.

Even today, this festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the rural areas of the district. Especially in the rural areas, most of the houses make Patane, which is eaten with kheer and lentils.

Even in this era of modernity, this ancient tradition is still intact in district Sirmaur and people are celebrating it with great devotion. Local resident Suresh Kumar told that Hariyali is a very sacred festival and due to this festival people go to the temples. Let’s enjoy.

He said – It is the day of greenery in the month of Sawan and on this day we have been making Kheer and Patane in our house since ancient times, we make and eat it in the same way and our sisters, aunts and relatives also come. Food dishes are given to eat.

With the advent of greenery, the whole month becomes a holy month, during which we go to the place of our deities to worship and offer prayers. People say that along with the Hariyali festival, the fairs of Sawan also start in the area. People say that during the festival, other dishes including Patane and Kheer are made in most of the houses.
