Shimla News : Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has said that the government has released an amount of one hundred and ten crore rupees to restore the link roads in the apple growing areas.

Addressing a meeting with officials at Rohru after taking stock of the damage caused by the rains at Chaupal Rohru and Jubbal Kotkhai in Shimla district, the Chief Minister directed to provide immediate assistance to the affected people.

The Chief Minister also instructed the officers of the Public Works Department to speed up the restoration works of the roads so that the products of the farmers reach the market on time. He said that all the link roads in the apple producing areas would be restored by August 15.

He assured the orchardists that the government would ensure that their produce reaches the mandis so that they do not face any kind of loss. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to shift Kudi village of Chopal assembly constituency which was affected due to heavy rains.

He said that the incident of orchardists throwing apples in drains was politically motivated and said that they do not want to do any politics on this issue in this hour of disaster. Sukhu said that he would tell the opposition in the monsoon session of the assembly what was the status of apple products in his government.

The Chief Minister said that the government has increased the amount of compensation ten times in view of the huge damage caused. Due to this, the victims are getting a lot of relief.
