Shimla News: PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh Took Review Meeting Of Smart City Works.

Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 15: Construction of various development works worth more than Rs 650 crore is going on in Shimla city under the Smart City Mission, for which today Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh held a review meeting with MLA Harish Janartha, Mayor Surender Chauhan and officials. Instructions were given to fix time period for these works and complete the construction soon. Apart from this, Vikramaditya Singh said that the second installment of Rs 850 crore has been approved under the World Bank Rs 1200 crore scheme to supply 24-hour water to Shimla city. Instructions have been given to speed up the work for this scheme also.

While Shimla city is the capital of Himachal Pradesh, it is also a tourist destination for which along with enhancing the facilities, beautification is also necessary. Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh said this after a review meeting with officials in Shimla on Thursday. He informed that currently various projects worth more than Rs. 650 crore are under construction in Shimla city under Smart City and for this, instructions have been issued to complete the work as soon as possible.

Vikramaditya Singh said that a plan worth Rs 150 crore has been prepared to cover the network of electric wires and telephone wires spread in the city, which was discussed in detail in the meeting today. He said that the second installment of Rs 850 crore has been approved for the Rs 1200 crore project funded by the World Bank for 24-hour drinking water supply in the city. Instructions have been given to speed up the works under this scheme.

Vikramaditya Singh said that under the Smart City in Shimla, the work of expansion of Card Road along with escalators, parking and flyover near the Assembly is going on at various places including construction of Skywalk in Ridge Ground and Hassan Valley.

Vikramaditya Singh, in response to a question by journalists, said that Congress is fully prepared for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. For which, along with the announcement of the names of the candidates by the All India Congress Committee, the election campaign will be carried out jointly in the state.
