Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, March 17: The escalator built in the world famous Hanuman temple Jakhu has come to a standstill again two days after its start. On Thursday, CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had inaugurated the escalator built at a cost of Rs 8 crore. The escalator had stopped working even at the time of inauguration but after two days on Sunday also the escalator stopped.

Today, long queues of devotees were seen in Hanuman temple but due to closure of escalator, one had to reach the temple on foot. The employee present at the company told that the escalator was running till yesterday but today it has been kept closed due to maintenance and quality check.

Regarding this, Municipal Corporation Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan said that the company management had informed him that due to maintenance and weekly trial, the escalator will be kept closed today. The escalator will start running again from tomorrow.

Let us tell you that the escalator built under the Smart City Mission has cost about Rs 8.5 crore. This escalator, built in two stages from Baba Balak Nath Temple, is a total of 46.46 meters long and the last end reaches near the statue of Hanuman ji.
