Let us know what is the history of Shaktipeeth Maa Chintpurni Temple –
Shaktipeeth Maa Chintpurni Temple is located in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. Chintapurni means the goddess who removes worries, also known as Chhinnamastika. It is said that a Durga devotee named Mai Das had built the temple here in the 14th century. Mai Das had two elder brothers, Durgadas and Devidas.

Mai Das spent most of his time in worship, due to which he was not able to do household work. Devidas’s brothers separated Mai Das from the family. After this Mai Das left the house. On the way, when Mai Das stopped under a tree to rest, a divine girl appeared in his dream and said that I am sitting here, get my pindi made and worship me here. I will protect your lineage. After which Maidas built Mata’s house here. It is also believed that the feet of Sati Mata fell at this place, and thus it is considered to be the most important among the 51 Shaktipeeths.

The story of Jaya and Vijaya is also popular in the name of Mata Chintpurni. In ancient times, there was a war between the gods and demons for a hundred years, in which Mother Chintpurni took the form of Chandi and killed the evil ones.

Mother’s assistants were two yoginas, Jaya and Vijaya, whose thirst for blood was not being quenched. On this the goddess asked her to wait, but She did not listen to her and became stubborn. Then to quench their thirst for blood, the goddess cut her neck with a weapon and three streams came out, from which Jaya and Vijaya satisfied their hunger. Since then the mother is known as Chhinnamastika. The Goddess is destroyer of the wicked and merciful to the devotees.
