Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam has earned a revenue of Rs 3 thousand 2 hundred 99 crore during the year 2022-23, which is 26 percent more than the previous year.
During a press conference in Shimla today, General Manager of the Corporation, Nandlal Sharma said that apart from Himachal Pradesh, power projects are being constructed across the country by the Corporation.
Apart from this, the 900 megawatt Arun Three Project has also been constructed in Nepal.
The work is underway and will be completed by next year-
He said that the corporation has set a target of producing 12 thousand MW electricity by 2026.
Our target was that in 2018 we had set that by the year 2023-24 we would become a company of five thousand megawatt and by 2030 we would become a company of twenty-five thousand megawatt and by the year 40 we would become a company of fifty thousand megawatt.
So, twenty one hundred megawatt of this is under operation and four and a half thousand megawatt is under construction, out of which about four thousand megawatt will come within a year and we will increase the capacity of five thousand megawatt to six thousand megawatt simultaneously.
It will become one and in the next three years it will become twelve thousand megawatt and by 2030 it will increase to more than twenty-five thousand megawatt.
Nandlal Sharma says that apart from hydropower production, solar energy and hydro power projects are also being constructed by the corporation.
We will have our own kind of portfolio, there will be similar projects on the same river. If there is diversification in hydro projects, it should not be only on Satluj and we are making projects on Beas also in other states.
We are making projects on other rivers also. We are making projects in other states also. We are making projects in other countries also.
So if any operational risk comes somewhere, then if the operational risk does not impact the financial or commercial viability of your company, then to minimize that impact, there is a diversification. So, first we did diversification in hydro in different states, in different rivers. Above, we are doing hydro projects abroad.
Apart from this, we have entered thermal. We are building a 1320 megawatt project in Buxar, Bihar. It will be ready next year and along with thermal, there will be expansion in wind and solar.
We have commissioned the first wind project in 2014.
The second one in 2019 and two more wind projects of about 300 megawatts each.
We have prepared them in a competitive manner and they will be commissioned within the next two years. We meet and exceed wind targets
Regarding the damage caused by the recent heavy rains, Nandlal Sharma said that although there has been a lot of damage due to monsoon rains in the state, there has been no damage to any project of Satluj Hydropower Corporation due to timely precautionary measures being taken.
Said that the employees of the corporation have given an amount of Rs. 2 crores to the relief fund of the state.
Regarding the recent changes brought in the energy policy of the state, Nandlal Sharma said that his talks are going on with the government in this regard and he has informed the government.
We have requested that the agreements made under the policy in the old projects should be kept intact.
We are in talks with the government that the previous projects should be kept as they are and in the next projects, you should replace your revised free policy.
So we have no objection and talks are going on regarding it.
