The Sach pass connecting the tribal Pangi valley to the district headquarter Chamba has not been opened for traffic even in the month of June. Due to heavy snowfall, this pass used to open every year in the month of May but this time the pass remained closed for about six months. Snow removal work is going on at a slow pace.

In such a situation, this pass has not been restored for the movement of vehicles even at the end of June. This slow pace of restoring the pass for traffic has angered the people of Pangi Valley and they are demanding immediate restoration of this pass.

Bhagat Badottara, President of Pangi Welfare Association, said that this is the first time that the Sach Pass has not been restored for traffic even at the end of June. He attributed this to the employees of the Public Works Department in Pangi.

He said – Every year our Sach Pass route used to be opened by the end of May and in the first week of June, but this time due to non-availability of the Executive Engineer, this route is still pending and in future Till the first or second week of July, I do not see any possibility because when there is no officer sitting on the seat then who will look after the works of nature and secondly the work of bridges, roads is stopped there. The work of Danko is stopped, the work of Danko is stopped, the development works which should have been done completely, are still lying closed in the whole valley.

Because his additional charge has been given to Chamba. The executive engineer of Chamba already has so much pressure, so how will he see Pangi? So it would be a humble request to my government that you fill up the post of Executive Engineer at Pangi as soon as possible.

The people of Pangi valley say that due to the Sach pass not being opened for traffic yet, tourists are also not able to visit this beautiful pass and Pangi valley. Due to this the tourism industry in the valley is also suffering. Also to say that Sach Pass used to remain open for traffic for six months in previous years.

But due to the delay in the snow removal work, this pass has not yet been opened. Last year, Pangi was cleared in a record breaking time and I reached Pangi on May 1st. In record time, but this time It is very unfortunate that due to non-availability of executive engineer, the work is going on in a very slow pace and maximum people have to come to Chamba by spending huge rent of giant. Due to this they are also suffering financially.
