Hopes for the construction of Renukaji Dam project, which is important for four states including Himachal, have started rising. On Thursday, an 18-member team of scientists from three higher institutions visited the spot and examined the land of the tunnel site including the dam site. Scientists have examined about 100 samples of soil taken from the dam site including the tunnels. During investigation, the land has been found suitable for construction of dam and tunnel. The team of Geological Survey of India (GSI), Central Water Commission and Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation will soon submit the land report to the Centre, so that the full budget for its construction can be received soon. The cost of the Renukaji Dam project is estimated to be around Rs 7,000 crore. So far, about Rs 1900 crore has been released from the Center to Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation (HPPCL). Himachal is going to get 40 MW electricity from Renukaji Dam Project.

Whereas Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Rajasthan are going to get water. The project is to be constructed near Dadahu on Giri river in Sirmour district.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone on 27 December 2021. The formalities regarding project construction have almost been completed. Final environmental clearance is yet to be received.

Chairman of the team of scientists and DDG of GSI, Dr. VK Sharma said that the dam is going to be constructed with modern methods and technology. Scientific survey is being conducted to deal with the technical shortcomings and geological challenges related to dam construction. He Told that the team has closely examined the land of the dam as well as the three tunnels of 1.5 km each to be built. The land has been found fine. Therefore, it can be expected that there will be no problems in the construction of tunnels and dams.

The team includes Director GSI Vinod Kumar, Dr. Ranjan Kumar, Aneet Rana, Senior Geologist Jagan Pratap Singh, Former CWC Chairman Ranjan Kumar Sinha, Director Sumesh Kumar, Deputy Director Randhir Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, Aamir Suhail, Vivek Kumar, DGM (Design) Arun Kapoor, Shiva Barwal, Lalit Mohan, GM of the project RK Chaudhary, DGM Sanjeev Kumar etc. have been involved.
