Today in Himachal Pradesh, Shimla will experience light precipitation with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) at isolated places, prompting a yellow alert. Heat waves are expected in isolated pockets of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Sirmaur, Solan, and Kangra districts. Light precipitation with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) is also forecasted for Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, and Chamba districts. Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur will see light rain with gusty winds, under a yellow alert. Kangra, Solan, and Sirmaur may also experience light rain in isolated places.

In the past 24 hours, very light rain fell at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh. Lower hills like Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, and parts of Mandi, Solan, and Sirmaur remained dry. The mid-hills (Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi) and the higher hills (Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, Kullu) had isolated rain. Temperatures were unusually high, with Kukumaseri being the coolest at 6.4°C and Neri the hottest at 46.3°C. Heatwave conditions were reported in Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur, while severe heat waves were observed in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Mandi, Una, and Kangra districts. A new western cyclonic disturbance is expected to affect northwest India starting today.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department and the Ministry of Earth Science, no snowfall was recorded in Himachal Pradesh today. However, rainfall was observed at three locations. Guler received the highest rainfall of the day at 1.6mm. Shimla recorded 0.5mm of rain, while Sundarnagar also saw traceable rainfall.

In Himachal Pradesh, Keylong is the coolest spot at 14.8°C, with a high chance of rain. Kufri follows with a warmer 19.3°C and a low chance of rain. Shimla records a pleasant 28.7°C with a moderate chance of rain. Chamba and Sundernagar are warmer at 32°C and 37.4°C respectively, with a moderate chance of rain. The District Disaster Management Authority of Lahaul & Spiti has issued a travel advisory for NH-505 Kaza to Gramphu Road. According to the advisory, the Losar to Gramphu stretch is now open for traffic, but only for 4×4 vehicles, and the movement is restricted to 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Travelers are advised to exercise caution due to the high risk of rock falls and avalanches, particularly between Gramphu and Losar. Road conditions and weather may impact vehicle movement, so it is crucial to be prepared. The police department will manage the traffic. Vehicles must be well-maintained and travelers should avoid unnecessary stops. Hotels and homestays are urged to inform guests about these guidelines.
