Lahaul Spiti News : Due to heavy rains 60 drinking water projects of Jal Shakti Department were affected in Lahaul and Udaipur sub divisions

Sixty drinking water schemes of Jal Shakti Department have been affected in Lahaul and Udaipur sub-divisions due to heavy rains and floods, in which a loss of five crore rupees has been incurred.

Deputy Commissioner Lahaul Spiti Rahul Kumar said that after heavy rains, about eighty percent drinking water schemes have been restored and a loss of fifteen crores has been initially estimated for about seventy-five irrigation schemes.

He told that 50 contact roads of Keylong and Udaipur sub-divisions of Public Works Department, while 34 contact roads of Spiti sub-division are still blocked.

He said that seventy-seven link roads have been restored and the work to restore others is going on on a war footing.Rahul Kumar informed that national highway Koksar to Sarchu is open, while Dancha, Shinkula road is still closed.

The Deputy Commissioner said that a preliminary assessment of the damage caused to the roads is being prepared. He said that power supply has been restored in most areas of Lahaul.
