Kangra News: Situation Has Not Changed In Seven Years, Now How Will The Dharamshala City Become Smart In Four Months?
Dharamshala: The effort to make the Dharamshala city smart had started in the year 2016, but due to unsmart planning of the officials and slow pace of work, not a single development work has been completed on time. The deadline to complete the ongoing development works in Himachal Pradesh’s first smart city Dharamshala is June 24, 2024. In any case, all development works will have to be completed by the month of June.
On the other hand, officials say that the ongoing development work for Smart City Dharamshala is difficult to be completed even in the next two years. Neither the Dharamshala city will get its first smart road nor smart street lights are going to be installed till June. If the work is not completed within the stipulated time, the central government will decide what to do next. At present, there are more than six works of Smart City Dharamshala which are half-completed.
According to complete information, earlier the deadline to complete all the work of Smart City Dharamshala was till June 2021, but after the work was not completed, its deadline was extended till June 30, 2023. Even after getting additional time of two years, all the work in Dharamshala remains incomplete. Now the Central Government has given the deadline to complete the work by June 24, 2024. But the work is not going to be completed even in this time period.
Dharamshala got the status of Smart City in the year 2016, but even after more than seven years have passed, people have not been able to get even a single smart facility in the city. The people of Dharamshala city have neither got smart roads nor smart street lights. Apart from this, the biggest problem of the city is parking, but in seven years people have not been able to get even a single new parking facility. Only 10 percent development work has been completed of multi-storey parking being built near Dharamshala bus stand.

The people of the merge area of Dharamshala have not been able to get sewerage facility. Apart from this, the work of the corridor from KCC Chowk to Dharamshala Stadium has also not been completed even 10 percent.

The deadline to complete the ongoing smart city work in Dharamshala city is June 24, 2024, but the work will not be completed on time. Earlier there was delay due to tenders etc. and later due to excessive rain in Dharamshala many works could not be completed. Many smart city works will not be completed till the deadline. After June it will be known what further decision the Central Government takes.
