Kangra News: Scuffle Between Sukhu and Sudhir Supporters in Dharamshala, Dispute Escalated Over Burning of Effigy

A scuffle broke out between Sukhu and Sudhir supporters on Thursday at Kachari Chowk Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. After the membership of Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma was canceled for cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha elections, supporters of Chief Minister Sukhu gathered at Kachari Chowk to burn his effigy. Upon getting wind of this, Sudhir’s supporters gathered at the square to stop him.

Sudhir supporters and police surrounded the car inside which the MLA’s effigy was kept. The police was trying to take possession of the car, meanwhile the driver ran away with the car. Sudhir’s supporters and police personnel kept chasing him for a long distance, but did not succeed. Then sloganeering started from both the groups. During the sloganeering that lasted for about 40 minutes, some supporters scuffled with each other. The police tried to disperse the crowd. Meanwhile, someone set the cardboard effigy on fire, but the police extinguished the fire by crushing it with their feet.

The right decision to cancel membership

Vijay Inder Karan, former general secretary of Kangra-Chamba Youth Congress and former candidate from Dharamshala, said that the decision to cancel the membership of rebel MLAs is right. Changing parties is not acceptable in Congress under any circumstances.

Party took unilateral action

Executive President of Dharamshala Youth Congress, Sunish Mata said that he is with Sudhir Sharma. The party has taken unilateral action, which he criticizes.
