The sixteen-member Indian cricket team has been announced for the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have finally returned to the T-20 team of the Indian cricket team after thirteen months. The captaincy of the Indian cricket team has been handed over to Rohit Sharma. Neither Rohit Sharma nor Virat Kohli has played any international T20 match since the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup. Due to the return of both the senior players of the Indian cricket team to the T-20 team, it has become clear that both the great players are going to be seen playing in the ICC T-20 World Cup in the upcoming month of June. Apart from Indian cricket team’s experienced all-rounder Hardik Pandya and middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav, Indian young opening batsman Rituraj Gaikwad has also not been selected for the Indian T20 series due to injury.
The T20 series against Afghanistan will be played in Mohali, Punjab on Thursday, January 11. The second T20 match will be played on Sunday, January 14 at Holkar Stadium in Indore. After that, the third and final T20 match between India and Afghanistan will be played on Wednesday, January 17 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This is going to be the last bilateral T20 series of the Indian cricket team before the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in the month of June.
Suryakumar Yadav suffered serious ankle injury while fielding in Johannesburg –
Both the Indian cricket team’s explosive middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Hardik Pandya are expected to return from the IPL. Suryakumar Yadav, who was captaining the Indian cricket team in the T20 series during the South Africa tour in December last year, suffered a serious ankle injury while fielding in the third and final T20 match in Johannesburg. Recently, Suryakumar Yadav has undergone complete ankle surgery and Indian cricket fans are hopeful that Suryakumar Yadav can return to training before the ICC T20 World Cup after a few months.

Indian cricket team’s middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has not been able to get a place in the sixteen-member Indian cricket team due to poor form. Due to which it is also being said that the selectors of the Indian cricket team are not considering the name of Shreyas Iyer for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in June. Due to the excellent performance of young batsmen like Tilak Verma and Rinku Singh, it is believed that Shreyas Iyer may have to struggle to make his place in the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in the month of June. Shivam Dubey has been included in the Indian cricket team for the T20 series against Afghanistan. The selectors of the Indian cricket team want all their fifteen first-choice players to be available for selection for the ICC World Cup team, but in reality this is not going to happen. Indian cricket team all-rounder Hardik Pandya was injured during the league match against Bangladesh in Pune during the ODI World Cup in November last year.
